‘Mental Health 360’ Launched by MoHAP to Prioritize Mental Well-Being
The UAE is taking a significant step toward prioritizing mental well-being with the launch of the “Mental Health 360” initiative, aimed at integrating mental health into everyday healthcare.
The campaign, spearheaded by the Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHAP) in partnership with global biopharmaceutical company AbbVie, highlights the importance of addressing psychological health alongside physical health to enhance overall quality of life.
The initiative encourages a holistic approach to healthcare, emphasizing early intervention, prevention, and continuous support. Mental health is no longer seen as a separate concern but as a central part of national health priorities, particularly under the objectives of the Year of the Family.
Key Focus Areas
- Promoting awareness about mental health as a spectrum of conditions and challenges
- Encouraging open conversations to reduce stigma
- Integrating psychological support into every stage of healthcare
- Strengthening collaboration between public institutions, private partners, and healthcare providers
H.E. Dr. Hussain Abdul Rahman Al Rand, Assistant Undersecretary for the Public Health Sector, emphasized that mental and physical health are deeply interconnected. The campaign calls for a unified care model that embeds mental health support across preventive and clinical services, ensuring that all individuals receive comprehensive care.
Dr. Buthaina Bin Belaila, Head of the Non-Communicable Disease and Mental Health Department at MoHAP, added that the initiative will enhance communication between patients and healthcare teams, improve outcomes, and support patients living with chronic conditions.
Representatives from AbbVie highlighted the importance of public-private partnerships in building an inclusive and sustainable mental healthcare system. They stressed that promoting mental health is a shared responsibility that benefits individuals, families, and society at large.
Through Mental Health 360, the UAE reinforces its commitment to a future where mental well-being is accessible, prioritized, and fully integrated into everyday healthcare.
